Competence Centre for Microdata-based Policy Advice
Tasks
The three areas of research at the IAW have common focuses, one of them being the microdata-based policy advice.
The IAW competence centre for microdata-based policy advice performs the following tasks:
- Advancement of the IAW’s advisory profile
- Participation in improving data infrastructure
- Enhancement of the IAW’s data- and methodological competence
- Communication
The mentioned tasks include the following activities:
Advancement of the IAW’s advisory profile
Development of project ideas for the utilisation of microdata for policy advice (e.g. pilot projects related to labour market policy, combination of advice and evaluation, advice for regional policy), presentation of the IAW’s advisory profile.
Participation in improving data infrastructure
Advancement of data infrastructure focussing on economic microdata, continuation of anonymisation projects in economic microdata, creation of methodological basics for anonymisation and for the work with anonymised data.
Enhancement of the IAW’s data- and methodological competence
Conduction of IAW own trainings, e.g. processes for panel data econometrics, work with certain data stocks for instance process data of the Federal Employment Office.
Communication
Public presentation of policy near project results, organisation of lectures and workshops with external researchers related to data and methodology.
