Katja Seidel studied economics at the University of Kiel (German: Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, CAU). She joined the IAW as a research associate in February 2012.

Her current research focus is in the area of labour markets and social policy.


Current Projects:

  • Gender equality policy of the Federal Employment Agency based on the German Social Code Book III (SGB III) - State of implementation and recommended course of action. Commissioned by: Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (2012-2013).
  • Labour market transitions of young parents – drivers and institutional conditions with special reference to family form. Commissioned by: Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (2012-2013).
  • Regular Reporting and Expert Reports on Research and Current Practice in the Fields of Income and Wealth Distribution as well as Social Indicators. Commissioned by: Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (2012/2014).
  • Evaluation of the programme „Exemplary Support for Counselling Centres for the Unemployed”. Commissioned by: Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (2013/2016).
