General research: collection of agreements between the social partners for the promotion of further vocational training

In the course of the digital transformation, job profiles and requirements for employees are changing rapidly and continuously, leading to new challenges for the continuing professional development of employees. Continuing vocational training must keep pace with rapid technological developments so that employees' knowledge and skills remain up to date.

In many sectors, the social partners have reached agreements to promote continuing vocational training. The overview research was commissioned by the Bertelsmann Foundation to analyze the dissemination, use and success of existing agreements in selected sectors. To this end, the social partners' continuing education agreements were researched in four work packages and recorded in a matrix. From this, a selection of best practice examples was made. Qualitative interviews with the social partners were conducted to validate the social partners' expert knowledge. The results of the overview research of the social partners' agreements were incorporated into the Bertelsmann Foundation's research project "Skills for tomorrow's work".
