Prof. Dr. Bernhard Boockmann

Bernhard Boockmann began his work at the IAW in 2007 as Scientific Managing Director and has headed the institute as Scientific Director since 2013, initially together with Prof Dr Wilhelm Kohler and since September 2023 together with Prof Dr Martin Biewen. Bernhard Boockmann studied economics and philosophy at the universities of Heidelberg and Mannheim and economics at University College London. Bernhard Boockmann received his Ph.D. in 1998 and the post-doctoral habilitation in 2004. From 1998 to 2007 he was a researcher at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), Mannheim. Since 2002, he was also vice head of department, labour economics, personnel management and social security, at the ZEW. His research centres on labour market issue such as labour market regulations, employment histories and transitions, wage determination, education and social mobility. A particular focus is on the evaluation of economic and social policies. He teaches as an adjunct professor at the School of Business and Economics of the University of Tübingen.
