IAW Honorary Member Hans Beerstecher Has Passed Away.
On August 7, 2026, Hans Beerstecher passed away at the age of 88. Since 1999, Hans Beerstecher had been an individual member of what was then the Society for Applied Economic Research (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Wirtschaftsforschung e. V.), the institute’s sponsoring association. Prior to that, he served on the IAW Advisory Board as a representative of L-Bank, the State Bank of Baden-Württemberg, where he was a member of the Executive Board from 1992 to 2002, most recently as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board. With his broad interest in economic and industrial policy issues, he was always very actively involved in the development of the IAW and its research activities, with a focus on Baden-Württemberg. In 1999, the L-Bank hosted the IAW’s annual meeting. As an individual member, he also regularly attended the general meetings and contributed to the discussions. His great commitment to the IAW was recognized in 2003 with his appointment as an honorary member.
